We are proving a concept — the concept that it is possible for businesses to give the most overlooked people in our society a chance at long-term employment sustainably

What we believe

We believe that every person deserves a chance to obtain long-term, sustainable employment for themselves and their families. For some people, this has never been a problem. For others, through circumstances outside of their control, be it war, famine, or countless other issues, they have never been able to have this sustainable employment. We aim to bridge that gap, helping those people obtain the job skills that they need to succeed.

Mission

P & G Purpose is a nonprofit organization that aims to create long-term partnerships with underserved individuals by placing them in employment and providing the necessary support required for them to fulfill their career potentials.

Board of Directors

Doug Abdiel

Chairman and Non-Executive Director


Doug is a LtCol in the US Marine Corps Reserves (since ‘03), is a VP at Advanced Navigation and Chairman of Purpose and Growth.  He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, and an MA from the Australian National University in International Relations.  He worked at Google in partnerships, strategy, operations, and deals for a decade.  His deployments in the Marine Corps took him to places like Haiti, and Afghanistan where he developed a passion to try to aid refugees through employment.

Arpan Singh

Non Executive Director, Outreach and Marketing


Arpan came to Australia as an International Student and studied a Master of Commerce in Marketing at Macquarie University in Sydney, NSW. He is a passionate marketer and has almost 10 years of experience in the same field. Other than his day job as an Inbound Marketer and a Digital Marketing Specialist, he has a strong passion for entrepreneurship, sustainability, mental health advocacy and women’s rights & safety.

Organisations such as P&G encourage him to step forward and contribute to the underprivileged sections of the society who are still fighting for basic human rights. His dream is to build a society where people are identified beyond their gender preferences, social class, and economic status. 

Peter Flugge

Non Executive Director, People


Peter has spent 35 years in the hospitality industry in varying capacities. From owning and operating a 5 star restaurant, cafes and a bar to nightclubs, resorts, wineries and cafes. This mixes with his own hospitality consulting business, being a hospitality teacher and being a part of different business associations and industry bodies.

Now with the Brotherhood of St Laurence, Peter finds himself immersed in a world of community support for those most disadvantaged members of our society.

George Schroeder

Non-Executive Director


George Schroeder is a founder, advisor, mentor, director, and community builder with nearly two decades of international leadership experience across Europe, the U.S., and Australia. He loves connecting people, exploring curiosity, and embracing diversity starting with his own multicultural family (Sri Lankan, Swiss, American, and German).

As the founder of PeerWize, George builds peer advisory boards for SME owners and entrepreneurs. He also serves as President of the IMD Alumni Association of Australia and as a startup mentor with CSIRO, reflecting his deep commitment to innovation and community leadership.

Previously, George held senior roles at Siemens across multiple divisions, including healthcare, gaining multi-functional expertise in strategy, finance, operations, R&D, and program management. This breadth makes him a true generalist, able to lead and adapt in complex environments.

John Frearson

Non Executive Director, Culture


John’s career has been in the aviation industry as an airline pilot, manager, consultant, regulator, inspector and strategy/policy developer. His career has involved posts in a number of countries including many years in Korea and the Philippines. John’s undergraduate degree was in economics and he has an MBA from the University of Melbourne. John has recently retired from his role as a Team Leader with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. His passion in the community is the Scouting movement where he was a founding Group Leader and remains very involved in his local Scout Group.
